academia.edu - How does an artist position herself when engaging with socio-political issues? MFA dissertation
- Make work to provoke critical reflection on environmental and socio-political issues.
- Be inspired by/reconnect with relevant radical aspirations and struggles from the past/wherever.
- Research widely, develop imagery, text and formats to highlight the issues.
- Value the tradition of agitprop: banners, printed matter… use at hand materials, techniques.
- Make suitable for everyday public spaces and accessible to a wider, non-traditional audience.
- Welcome projects sited within a community and working with others.
